EducationBS: Entomology - Michigan State University Masters: Entomology - Michigan State University
Currently, I'm working on a research-based PhD in Entomology at Rutgers University (GPA - 4.0) where I am the president of the Graduate Entomology Student Association. My research focuses on the invasive Brown Marmorated Stink Bug which, in addition to being a nuisance around the home, is a major agricultural pest.
In high school, I tutored underprivileged elementary students in math and science as part of my school's National Honor Society program. In college, I was a volunteer teaching assistant for an agricultural ecology course. As a TA, I worked with struggling students individually and had the opportunity to give two senior-level lectures. During my masters, I voluntarily tutored undergraduates having trouble with courses offered through my department.
I have been professionally tutoring since October of 2013 and have worked with 7th graders, PhD students and everything in between. In that time, I've tutored clients in algebra (high school and middle school), pre-calculus, physics, statistics, and chemistry. Past and current clients are available for contact as references.
I think I make a good tutor because I understand that some people just can't learn from the traditional lecture/classroom format. I experienced this first hand as a child until I learned to teach myself in a manner that best suited me. As a tutor, I always try to customize how I approach helping a student to suit his or her individual needs. The last thing a struggling student needs is another person droning on at them.

HobbiesWhen I'm not busy being a grad student, I love being outdoors. I'm really into hiking, camping and fly fishing, although I haven't explored Jersey's trout streams yet. If I'm in the mood to relax, you'll find me reading, playing guitar, watching netflix or playing video games. The one thing I always make time for is supporting my alma mater by watching MSU football every Saturday in the fall.
